Brass

Properties Brass is any alloy of copper and  zinc.    Muted yellow color relatively resistant to tarnishing.  Higher malleability than copper  or zinc. Excellent acoustic properties.  Relatively low melting point of brass (900 to 940°C) Fairly easy material to cast. Naval brass contains  tin and is resistant to sea water 90% of all brass alloys are recycled.

Applications Decoration for its bright gold-likeappearance  (Fittings & Trim) Applications where low friction is required such as locks, gears, bearings, doorknobs, ammunition, and valves.  Plumbing & electrical applications Malleability & acoustic properties of brass make it the metal of choice for musical instruments  such as the trombone, tuba, trumpet, euphonium, tenor horn and French horn, known as the "Brass Section"  Zippers Ship & Boat Fittings are usually made of Naval Brass which is resistant to the effects of sea water.
